Commitment to Advocacy 

As the primary organization representing urologists and their patients across the state, the OUS is actively engaged in advocacy efforts to promote legislation that improves the urological health of our patients and our members' clinical practices.

We work closely with the Oregon Medical Association and state subspecialty organizations to advocate to lawmakers on behalf of our constituents. 
Our Core Values 
  • Improve access to quality care for all Oregonians regardless of race, sexual identity / orientation and socioeconomic class 
  • Reduce administrative burdens negatively impacting providers' practices

Legislative Priorities 

  • Support traditional medical liability reform efforts
  • Promote efforts that support adequate insurance networks
  • Support state efforts to reduce the burden of prior authorization
  • Support access to prostate cancer screening
  • Support legislation and regulation that maintains the physician led care team
  • Preserve appropriate use of the in-office ancillary services exemption (IOASE) to the federal Stark law and support legislation that allows appropriate participation in alternative payment models
  • Support legislative and regulatory efforts to expand meaningful patient access to telemedicine services​
